Playgroups provide socialization for moms and kids

If you work at home or stay at home with young kids, you might spend your days trying to keep the little ones entertained. By bedtime, you're exhausted. After all, how many times a day can you sing nursery rhymes, play with toys, and tackle a crying spell? Getting out of the house and making new friends might be the key to preserving your sanity. Mothers Can Donate Milk Through These Banks

Breast is best. The American Academy of Pediatrics and World Health Organization tout the many benefits of breastfeeding for both mother and baby and encourage mothers to breastfeed for at least one year (AAP) or two years (WHO). Yet, the CDC reports that at six months of age, only 14.8 percent of U.S. babies are being exclusively breastfed, as recommend by the AAP. Milk banks make breast milk available to more babies. Busy Moms Often Struggle to Fit Regular Exercise In

Life with kids is busy, whether you're caring for an infant 24 hours a day or balancing the school and extracurricular schedules of high schoolers. Throw in taking care of the house and working, and your day is full, perhaps too full. Exercising, then, might get pushed to the back burner as you juggle multiple tasks. Finding a way to stay in shape while being a mom is important, however.

How to Help a New Mom

Your best friend, sister, cousin, daughter, or neighbor just had a baby, and you can't wait to meet her new addition. However, before you head over to get some cuddle time with the newborn, ask yourself one question: Am I helping mom? If the answer is no, delay your visit or revise your plan so that you can help the new mom out. Remember, mom and baby both need time to adjust to their new world.
